About

A triple entendre of sociocultural agency, extra-terrestrial exploration, and architecture, our name reflects our focus on how exchanges between history and technology manifest in new environments.

We are a team of architectural designers, technology researchers, historians, writers and artists.

Prior to directing Spaced Agency, T.K. Justin Ng worked for several internationally renowned architecture firms on a broad spectrum of projects. He has held positions at the offices of OMA in Rotterdam, ALA Architects in Helsinki, Diamond and Schmitt Architects in Toronto and Aedas in Hong Kong. In particular, he was involved in the design of the New Tretyakov Museum led by Rem Koolhaas and the Helsinki Central Library. Outside the practice of design, Justin is engaged in writing, painting and teaching. He is the author of two books on Vancouver and Helsinki. Justin has served as an instructor at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and at the Boston Architectural College.

Justin holds a Master of Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from the University of Waterloo.

Rhea Jiang is a writer and design researcher. Her work threads together design ethics, philosophy of technology, new materialisms, and critical historiography to study the impact of technology on design and space. While her academic projects span a wide range of topics and mediums, together they reflect a keen interest in the politics of technology and creative strategies to confront contemporary challenges in digital governance.

She earned a Master in Design Studies at Harvard Graduate School of Design and a BA in Art History from Williams College, where her work centered around the politics of aesthetics and the role of art in public space. Outside of work, she enjoys long walks, vegetarian cooking, and armchair philosophy.

Melody Chen is an architectural designer. She has worked in several design fields ranging from architecture to product design. She draws inspirational for her work from her background in arts and travel experiences.

Sparsh Gandhi is an architectural designer. He has an interest in tactile, context specific design stemming from his previous work in New York. With experience at many scales from exhibition design, community centres, and residential towers he strives to understand opportunities for environmental relationships and human agency. He holds a Bachelor of Architectural Studies with honours from the University of Waterloo.
